District 15 – Loxahatchee-Acreage

Greetings,

My name is Capt. Craig Turner and I am honored to have been assigned as the Commander of District 15-Loxahatchee/Acreage. I have worked in Law Enforcement since 1998. I began my career with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office and have worked for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office since 2000.  I have served in several different roles throughout my career including community policing, property crimes, Violent Crimes Division and SWAT. I have also served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves until my retirement in 2014 after 24 years of service.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Criminal Justice Studies and a Master’s Degree from Florida State University in Criminal Justice Administration.  I am excited to have this opportunity to work again in Loxahatchee-Acreage after spending 3 years here as a Sergeant.  I look forward to seeing the area grow over the foreseeable future; working with the people, businesses, and governments that make up the Acreage and Loxahatchee.

District 15 encompasses approximately 140 square miles and has a direct service population of over 44,000 residents.  District 15 is staffed with 1 Lieutenant, 5 Sergeants, 28 Road Patrol Deputies, and 2 Detectives.  In addition, the district receives support from Community Policing, K-9, Aviation and the Traffic Division, and it operates in conjunction with two additional law enforcement service agreement bodies, the Indian Trail Improvement District.  The PBSO District 15 headquarters is located in the county building at 200 Civic Center Way, Suite 300, Royal Palm Beach.

District 15 has adopted the “Rural Policing Model” which is a coordinated effort between the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the residents of our rural communities. We have an obligation to achieve results and are firmly committed to our stated goal of “providing the finest possible law enforcement services to those who reside in and visit our community.”  Should ever need to contact me, please feel free to do so.

In July of this year (2024), four experienced law enforcement professionals trained as assessors were selected by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. to conduct an assessment of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. This assessment looked at our policies, procedures, practices, and facilities to determine compliance with 235 Commission standards. The assessors spent three days reviewing documents, interviewing personnel, and observing and inspecting vehicles and equipment while making site visits to many of our locations around the county. At the conclusion of the assessment, a comprehensive report was submitted by the team leader to the Commission detailing their activities and our compliance with the law enforcement standards.
